Lower back pain is one of the leading causes of disability worldwide, with a lifetime prevalence of over 80% in the adult general population. It is important to note that over 90% of lower back pain cases cannot be accurately attributed to a specific pathoanatomical diagnosis, yet, lower back pain remains the most common reason for imaging ordered by GPs. This sheet outlines a few of the specific instances in which diagnostic workup and further investigations into the causes of lower back pain may be necessary.
