Nephrotic syndrome is kidney disorder characterised by proteinuria, hypoalbuminemia and peripheral oedema. Patients may present with swollen legs or foamy urine. There are a range of causes including primary renal disease and systemic disease. We provide a framework to consider the differential diagnoses of nephrotic syndrome.
